Hello again..

These are some candles I hand stamped for the ladies at work. They are really so simple and easy to do.

You can also tell I love the ' Like it a Latte' stamp set which is funny because I bought this one and then regretted it thinking I should have gotten a different set...funny huh? I guess it was meant to be becuase i really LOVE this set and have so many more ideas for cards.
I used liquid applicae for the 'foam' and 'marshmellows'

Hello!!!

I am a terrible blogger I know! But its the silly season and I have been so busy trying to get everything ready for christmas plus it was Hannah's 3rd birthday on Monday (OMG- I cannot believe its been 3 years!) so I had that to organise as well.
PLUS- I held my first workshop which went off swimmingly!

So okay- I have managed to squeeze in some stamping time! You know me (mostly at midnight!) but I have loved these new sets which I got. You can easily see Mr Crabby is my favourite.
I made 40 (COUNT em! 40 and envelopes!!!) of the crabby christmas cards...and I still love him!

Hope you enjoy my creations I will attempt to be a more regular blogger in the new year!

Hello ladies!

LOOOONG time I know. But I have had like a million things happening and so have been soo busy I have hardly had time to breathe!

Look at Hannah! She is such a grown up now! I adored her curly hair but she HATED me washing or brushing it! And because it was so curly it would get knotty very quickly. Sooo I decided (huge decision=lots of tears!) to get it cut for summer. I was really worried that she would get upset but she was kept pestering me about going to the hairdresser I finally had to give into my fear and take her.
She loves it! (although not really showing it in this photo! hehe) She keeps asking when she can go back to the hairdresser! ....not for a while honey!
LUCKILY- the curls have already started to come back! :)

How beautiful is my baby..another photo from the wedding. And look at those curls! ...and guess what! Hannah had her first hair cut this arvo...all those beautiful curls gone :( I am now a little sorry that I got her hair cut BUT she hates me brushing it and it was getting way to long. This was for summer it will be short and HOPEFULLY those georgous curls will grow back!......wont they? (I'll post piccies soon!)

Is it just me or every mum which experiences that feeling in the depth of your heart?.. When you look at your child and realise you created them, taught them to be who they are....sometimes I am so overcome with pride I can hardly breathe....my life began when hers did...I couldnt imagine my life without her..

ANYWAY.....

I AM SOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!

I FINALLY sent off my application to become a Stampin Up! Demonstrator!

Whooo! Hooo!!!!!!

I have been waiting for this for seriously like 6months!

I cannot wait!!

Oh- and i got ALL my christmas shopping done tonight. BAM! In one hit. I spent way WAY too much money but I got all the gifts I was wanting to.

Aloha!

I LOVE getting my ideas for cards from the net. I normally look at the actual layout. How many colours/shapes there are, maybe the theme? Well my cards always have my own twist and honestly almost always dont actually end up looking like the inspiration (which is probably a good thing). Well this one was cased from Kristina (http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/) who is totally amazing! And through my hundreds of archived 'cards for inspiration' I can ALWAYS pick which ones are hers. She is incredible.
Anyways... the first card is her creation and the second card is mine.
Mine is no where near is good but I am still happy with how it came out!

Cudos to Kristina. Another awesome design.

OOhh.and I am LOVING the new blog design!!

Okay...so you have seen me go CRAZY making these cute boxes and I have altered the template just slightly for this box and I added a window!
How cool do this look? I put accetate plastic over the back so that whatever you put in the box does fall out! The other thing I modified was the ribbon. Instead of it wrapping around the topper to hold the box together, I punched a couple of holes and threaded the ribbon through the top. neat huh?

The only thing with this design is that you can sorta see the inside of the back of the box which has two patterns from the paper on it...you could maybe cover that part with a plain piece of cardstock but I think once you have the box filled you wont notice so much...i hope!

All I used for each box was ONE piece of 12x12 designer series paper from Stampin up!(summer picnic-how sweet are they?) The tinest bit of cardstock to back the tag and about 30cm of ribbon!
HOW EASY!

I have actually made a tutorial (my very first one! exciting!) on how to make the normal boxes but I think its too long because it wont seem to upload properly. It keeps stopping about halfway through..
Does anyone know of a good computer programe that allows you to edit home movies? (preferrably free! hehehe..)I think I just need to speed up the boring parts of the vid to make it fit...anyhoo- if anyone knows of a programe please let me know!

If i cant get the video to work- I'll make another box and take still shots. Either way there will be a Tute on how to make these boxes..eventually!

Well Talk about BUSY!

Im working on these goodie bags (well..boxes) for Hannah's third birthday party MY GOD- WHERE DID THE TIME GO? It seems like an hour ago I was watching in disbelief, as that little line turn blue!..*sigh*...anyway...

Her birthday is actually 3 days before christmas and I have always made it a point to make sure her birthday is celebrated seperatly from chirstmas, so we are having her birthday party in the first week of December.
I know I know..ages away! BUT..this is only half of the boxes done!

We have one of those familys which extends and extends and extends.. Everyone has kids and we have all grown up together and celebrated everything together SO..we have like 60 people (all of which are Family and very close friends) coming for a BBQ Birthday celebration. Im really excited..we are going to get a barnyard travelling farm! Hannah is going to flip! ..and the other 30 kids are going to be kept occupied! (Good thinkin 99!)

okay..so the boxes.. I got the template from Becky Roberts (it is SO worth the money, she has done an awesome job of the tutorial! check it out..http://inkingidaho.blogspot.com/)
I wanted something that i could mass produce relatively easy but that was also personalised. I almost passed out from using the 'stazon' ink with the names! hehe but other than that they were quite easy to make.
I havent used cardstock, only double ply paper and so I hope they will hold up when there is actually lollies in them!

Sorry about all the photos but i think they look awesome together!
The last photo I just chucked some choccies in so you get the idea, I dont think the kids would appreciate peppiment and pralene dove choccies! hehehe..

Hello again!

I have seen stamping on candles for a while now and never knew how to do it!

Guess what?? It is soooo easy its not funny! Guess what everyone is getting for christmas now? hehehe..

SO you wanna know how?

Stamp on white TISSUE paper. Cut put the images. Heat the candle with your heat gun. Stick down the tissue paper. Reheat and smooth over edges!

It is honetly that simple!

Here's a couple that I did.

I am trialling using 'large' photos as well- hope they come out okay!

For the christmas candle I stamped the image of the christmas lights on in stazon black ink then just used my colouring pencils to add the colour. I attached the image and waiting until the wax had dried before I added the glitter over the top....i may have gone overboard on the glitter buy hey! Tis the season to be ...overly excessive on the sparkle!

For the flower candle I stamped using the different colour ink in Stampin Up's earth tones, I then cut each flower out individually and melted them on. I made this one first and found that the finshed product's surface is less even because there is lots of melting and drying in a close space. I think it would have been much better to stamp my pattern onto the tissue paper and then just melt the whole piece on rather than each indivudual flower.

I made a postcard to go with this candle as well.

Note; This really is a simple/stunning and very unique gift...and cheap! I got a pack of 4 pillar candles from spotlight for $10!

You could make a gift pack with a candle, giftcard holder and chocolate box (see posts below) all together! A personalised gift for under $15. SWEET!

Ohhh! and HOW CUTE IS THIS STAMP SET!! I found it in a bargin bin at spotlight. The top of the packaging was ripped but i think its a frenchville stamp set!
I stamped them and coloured them in using the stampin up! ink spots..

I cant WAIT to use them on a card!!

My mum saw a box template I was playing with and asked me to make a couple of the teachers at my step sisters kindy..

I'm still playing on the template measurements (each of these boxes fits slightly differently into the cover bit) I'll post the measurements when I finalise it.
I stamped the tag on the front so I decided to make an extra tag to put inside so my mum could write a personalised message..

You could put chocolates or biscuits in these boxed or you could even make one for a childs birthday and put textas or pencils in it!

what do you think?

(The boxes fit a whole packet of mini snickers/mars/milky ways..)

Pack of Cards

Hiya,

If you have been following my blog for a while you will notice that the DCWV- Retro paper pack is one of my very faves and I wanted to make a series of cards which where all the same is 'sketch' but a little bit different.
I also found a pattern on Dawns youtube account (check out my inspirations to find her blog) I made the card holder below with her dimensions but I found that they really only held 4 cards and I wanted it to hold 6. So I have created a 'template' for a new holder which has a couple of gussetts scored in it so it will hold more cards. I'll post a photo once its completed.

I have actually had a customer request 3 of these! wowez thats alot of cards!

Hello hello!
I am still here and guess what! I got my new battery charger for my camera woohoo!...having said that I also found the old battery charger! hehe isnt that always the way!!

SO okay..I have heaps to share because I have been busy busy with my stamping.
I have wanted to try a pop up card for ages and could never find the pattern, well I did and here is my take on the card..

Receipe;

Base
- Cut at 10.9cm x 28cm
- Score @ 2.6/7/9.5/14cm theb flip the card so the 14cm is still in the middle and score again at 2.6/7/9.5
- On the 14cm score line, cut a slit in along the score line measuring the width of your 'pop up' (this will change from card to card)
- Fold all your score lines
- On the 2.6cm end adhere double sided tape
- Cut your 'pop up' and slide it through your slit in the middle
- Turn your card over and adhere the bottom of your 'pop up' to ONE of the 2.6cm flaps.
- Fold this flap in towards the card and you'll see the 'pop up' move up through the card
- Take the other flap and line it up with the first (make sure it too is folded IN towards the card) and adhere together
(i always test it first before I take the backing tape of the second flap- this way you can test that you have lined them up correctly)
- Fold the card flat and pop it up a couple of times to make sure it moves smoothly
- Adhere your 'pop up' to the front of the card when it is flat.

This card will fit into a normal sized envelope so will post really easily.
Note- any back ground stamping/writing you want to do on the actually card base needs to be done before you ahere your pop up.

Bridal Shower Card..

I also made this card for the bride's bridal shower during my 'all nighter' last night.
The pattern paper is a random sheet I found at a garage sale. I destressed the edges of the paper and the very vanilla cardstock. I used my cricut to cut the tag and stamped on the tag with simply said stamp set. I then coloured it to match added the rubons and the embellishments.

It wasnt what I originally had planned but I think its okay. Inside the sentiments just says 'wedding wishes to the bride to be'

Card Box..

OKay so I posted the card at what time was it last night?...8.19pm (not so bad for me right?). The wedding is a 'wishing well' wedding where instead of buying presents the bride and groom just want money. So I was thinking- what do you do? Just chuck the money inside the card? Then I had an idea- I dusted off my cricut which Im sure is feeling quite rejected because its been neglected of late. And in the 'new arrival' cartridge there is a cut for a small enveleope. It fitted perfected! I LOVE THIS! I embossed with the cuttlebug and stuck the tinest bit of velcro to hold it closed. You could use this idea for gift cards as well :)

I love it when you stumble upon good ideas!...well I guess my creative juices were flowing because then I started to think that I would have to make an envelope for the card itself. And I was wondering how to protect the bow on the card and also how to make it look more like a proper gift instead of just a card with cash in it. Look what I came up with! I just measured the card I had made and added 2.5cm to each side. Cut and then scored along the 2cm and folded.
I actually attached the ribbon on the back with adhesive so that it would not move or fall off. And to make it all a little more special I just say some tissue in the bottom of the box and sat the card on top of it.
I have to say I am so TOTALLY happy with this creation :) I LOVE IT!
...surfice to say it was 3am before I got to bed!

Up and coming wedding

Two of my good friends are getting married next weekend. I was cutting it a little short so I thought I better make a wedding card. It's a big affair. There is 17 in the wedding party! Including myself, Dan and Hannah!
I am going to a bridal shower/party thingy on wednesday night so I will have to make another card for then.
I really like the way this one turned out. No stamping on it (which surprising feels weird now! hehehe..is that a sign of withdrawl to my stamping addiction? :)

Receipe;

Stampin Up! Cardstock- very vanilla
Stampin Up! Ribbon - very vanilla
Frenchville patterned paper
Random flowers/pearls/rub ons.
Cricut was used to cut the heart of the very vanilla.
(I used versa mark over the heart and embossed with fairy crystals, repeated three times to make sure it was thick enough and completely covered. I did the same to the flower which was previously white)
I wasnt too happy with the bow so since the photo I have re tied it and its much better!

My aunty sent me a belated birthday present in the mail and so I thought I would make her a card.
When I started this card I had a completely different design in mind but it all sort of came together and turned into this!
hehe..this is also the first time I have had to create an envelope to send a card in..hehe I stuffed it up completely but I have word that the card was received in the mail okay, so we just live and learn I guess!

'Oh What a Night'

As you can see from my cards I have been dabbling in stampin Up products and I have been itching to join and become a demonstrator!

Kim (my soon to be upline!) invited me to the Field Training held in brisbane last night. I had an AWESOME time and met some really amazing ladies who are so talented. It was the first time I had met any of them and they made me feel so comfortable and a part of the group.

I CANNOT wait to sign up!

oooh and when we arrived we were given a stamp set from the up and coming mini catalogue! How cool is that!

Random flower stamp and scrap piece of white ribbon
Kindy Glitz and bling

(I stamped the main flowers on pretty in pink cardstock with pretty in pink ink, I then used my aquapen to shade the flower with more pretty in pink ink. It worked really well, when the water colour went over the actual outline of the stamp it made it pop out more. I just used purple and pink ink and my aquapen to dot the middle of the flowers and then added the kindy glitz.)

YUMMY! I am SO doing these for christmas!

Ive been busy again!

I had the day off work today and got to spend the WHOLE day with my baby! We watched a million episodes of 'Dora the Explorer'. I cannot believe me 2.5year old can speak spanish! hehe While she was asleep I dived right into my Stampin Up! stuff. I am having so much fun with all of this! I am loving all these colours and being able to match everything up!

I spotted this box on splitcoast stampers a while ago but couldnt find the template for it! WELL I stumbled upon it today as a PDF file. (You know me- I'm hopeless with remembering where things come from! I did save the PDF file to my computer though so if anyone wants the template let me know and I'll email you!)

I have been trying to get some ideas for christmas. I usually try and do something each year but my Nana (who recently passed away) always gave something usually handpainted to EVERYONE in our family. So with her passing I guess the torch is passed to me to keep up the tradition. I like the idea of these acertate boxes! It was relatively simply and I think it will be quite quick to recreate 'on mass'. Cant you just see these filled with caramels or jaffas or some sort of candy! Yummy!!

GOD knows why, but I actually have like 100 pages of acertate lying around (have no idea where I got it from its obviously been there that long!! :)
Here's the receipe;

Acertate
Stampin Up! Cardstock - Real Red
Stampin Up! Carstock - Wild Wysabi
Stampin Up! scallop punch & 1 3/8" circle punch
Stampin Up! stamp set- Tart & Tangy (cherry)/ Short and Sweet (thank you)
Ribbon - Frenchville

NOTE- the one thing I will mention with this is, because you are using acertate pretty much any of the adhesives I tried showed on the back flap. Maybe you could try a corner piece to hide it? But really when its filled you wont see it anyway. Depends on your preference.

You can always tell when 'that' times comes when your creativness starts to umm...dwindle.
I had big plans for this card, I was excited, had the perfect colours, and perfect ribbon and ahem..well as I was 'creating' I guess I was falling asleep because;
1/ I used the wrong yellow!
2/ I completely forgot about the ribbon I had and used red rope instead
3/ I punched (NOT inline) with my hole punch instead of my paperpiercer for the rope to thread through the top!

...okay so I dont think it turned out too bad right? I always think when I make a card like this one that even if I dont really like it. Some one will! :):):)

Hello all!

I made another box (I love these!). I made this one with my 6year old step daughter in mind. I wanted to include pink, glitter, flowers and butterflys. Im not sure how I feel about the harshness of the black. Maybe its too much? Its one of those pieces which doesnt quite sit right with me yet.

Hello all,

I found the template for this box on a website..I cant remember where..sorry!

But I thought I would try it out!

The measurments are;

Base- 7" by 7" scored at 1 3/4" on everyside.

Lid- 5" by 5" scored at 11/16 on everyside

(okay- so in OZ we use cm/meters not inches! So I kinda had to just wing it a little bit and the lid actually is a bit bigger than it should be but I'll modify it next time!)

I thought I best try it out before I put all the effort into making something then when I went to put it together it didnt work- so I made a plain blue box first and like I said, other than the lid being a bit big I loved how it turned out!

So I decided to make the 'Whoo Loves U?".

Perfect Bow!

Now those of you who use ribbon on your cards/scrapbook pages know that we are all searching for that 'Perfect Bow' and the fool proof never fail way that we can re create that perfect bow in whatever ribbon/fibers you may have handy at the time...and we all know that more often than not the bow is not quite as Perfect as we had hoped.

Well- Im not making any claim to fame and I certainly dont have the 'fool proof, never fail way' to make a perfect bow everytime (in fact most of mine are just shockers!) but i guess that is what makes this one so special!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this bow. And honestly I wanted to show those out there who (dicracefully like me) get frustrated and sook when the bow doesnt work, that every once in a while THEY DO WORK! :)

So hang in there all you bow tiers and never stop reaching for that allusive Perfect Bow! If you have a photo of your perfect bow I would love to see!

ciao for now....why is it that it always seems to be close to midnight when I get onto this thing!! One day I'll scrap or make a card during daylight hours! One day!!

Aloha all!

Even though Im still feeling really unwell I have been surfing around the net and found some amazing inspriation these last couple of days. I just havent had the energy to actually do anything. Honestly sometimes I get just as much joy looking at everyones work that I 'forget' to do my own!! And when I do get down to business I feel like I have been away for ages and have so many ideas swirling its hard to stick to just one. This normally results in my attempt at a card turning to poo and then my returning to the net for further inspriation!

So we'll see how we'll go this time!

I have been an avid watcher of Kristina's MACM (she has some wonderful talent and makes it all look so easy! You can find 'Make A Card Monday' here http://www.youtube.com/user/starofmay there are heaps to choose from!) Anyway i stumbled across a couple of other You Tube channels which have 'similar' videos and also heaps of inspriation. Dawn's are fab and she mostly concentrates on Stampin Up! which I LOVE at the moment! (you can find her here http://www.youtube.com/user/dawn5377) SO...there is a point.. I watched her 'Sour Cream Container -Tutorial' and OMG!!! HOW CUTE IS THIS!!

So it was the inspriation I needed. I jumped off the net (shock horror!) and made this thing in like 20secs flat! I have this idea now of making HEAPS for christmas time etc..Jump onto her you tube and check it out. It really was SO easy and took no time at all.

Stampin Up!

I am trialling some of Stampin Up!'s products as I am looking to become a demonstrator. So I have been playing hard for the last week trying to start on collection of cards to showcase and basically just to see if I am good enough to become a demonstrator.

SO..your feedback would really be appreciated as it will help me make up my mind! :)

Also...if anyone out there is from the BRISBANE (Australia) are let me know. I was thinking that I would love to maybe get together a club/group meeting to share ideas etc as there arent any on the bayside of town (that I have found anyway!).

What do you think?

OH- and does anyone have any tips on how to stop the 'blotching' when inking your stamps? The smaller stamps are fine but the bigger stamps all seem to come out blotchy..can anyone help? I couldnt find anything in the 'tips and tricks' booklet.

Hello Ladies!

Im BACK and bouncing off the walls with happiness!

I have finally got my new internet connection happening (PRAISE THE LORD!) and I thought 'what the heck' and I went and bought a new computer :)

sexy huh?...

I used to have a laptop so going from my .5"(?!) screen to 19" screen is HEAVEN! I see so many new colours and hehehe...how bad my previous photos actually are!!

So armed with my new camera and new computer Im hoping that my posts will be brighter, bigger and better and uh..more frequent then ever before :)

Puppies!

Hiya all,

With all that has happened over the past few months I dont think I have shared with you our two additions to the family!

About 4 months ago Dan and I decided to add a pup to our family. We chose a little boy. HOWEVER...when Dan went down to collect him...well I guess those little brown eyes bore a whole in his heart. She was the last in the litter and he just couldnt leave her all alone...so he comes home with a 'surprise'...TWO PUPPIES!! Brother and Sister.

OH lord help me! But those eyes..and those little tails...and the way they fall asleep on top of each other all snuggled and warm...how could you seperate them?

The result- we have two pups now. Other than double the doo doo and lil puddles I have to admit that it has actually has had its pro's. They keep each other company at night play with each other learn from each other..its actually cute.

SO..introducing ANGUS (white) and DAISY (brown)...we got them when they were 7 weeks old and they are now 15 weeks (its gone quickly!)

I love these photos! Sorry if they arent so clear...i didnt have my new camera when I took them!

I've had like 2hours sleep!

Morning everyone!

I was up ALL night last night (ended up getting to sleep like 3am)

starting on my newest project.

The previous post showed all the stuff I bought and I couldnt wait to get into it!

I am so happy with how these first couple of pages turned out.

The photos arent the best but I really wanted to show you all :)

"What makes my Heart Happy"

Cover-

I covered with paper, then cut free hand the large flowers and (using another of the same paterned paper) cut the other flowers. I then scrunched them up (as if i was throwing them out) and then unfolded them which left them with a crumpled look. I then covered the chip board 'Happy' matching paper, and with a hot glue gun stuck the tassel/pompoms along the spine of the book and along the front.

Hannah-

I covered with paper and free hand paper pieced my cupcake. I put some liquid applique and glitter as the frosting. I added some flowers and plenty of rub ons.

Gma Cuddles-

I covered with paper and also covered the chipboard 'gma' with matching paper. Punched a couple of circles with the matching paper and added a flower and some rub ons.

Hello all,

Its been such a long time since Ive actually created a card but I have been inspired to get back into it!

Here are a couple of cards I made tonight (hubby watched the kids for a couple of hours so I had complete 'alone' time and with my glass of wine and meditation music my creative juices started to flow.

Isnt it funny how you have tools for ages and you get so used to them sitting there that you kind of forget what great things they can be used for!

I've had some creative memories circle/oval cutting tools for close to 6 years now,they were one of my very first tools I bought and I have NEVER used them to make a circle card! How silly is that!

SO - like a bolt out of the blue tonight it struck me! And once I started I was hooked. I have a million more ideas flowing in my brain now!

Purple Card- I cut the card, stamped with versa watermark on the background, stamped and coloured the sheep herd, and used liquid applique on as their wool (LOVE how this came up!) I then thought it needed a bit more so swirled a little with some watercolour pencils and blended. Mounted the two circles together and doodled around the edges. It still wasnt right so I addedd this fibre around the edge.I masked the image of the sheep and stamped the verse inside the card.

Blue & Green Card- This was the first one I did (its actually smaller than I was planning), I cut the background with the DCWV Retro paper I love. I then searched and searched for some matching solid colour paper. I stamped on the smaller cricle. I wanted to try that faux stiching that I see around so (i dont have a paper piercer so I used a bulletin pin) I punched the tiny holes around the edge of the circle and used a white gel pen to fill in the spaces. It looked great for about 10 seconds and then the white just faded! (must be an 'el cheapo pen!) so I scrapped that idea and added the flowers and the extra brads. and to finish it off I addedd the rope!

Another card for my DCWV collection!

Hello!

I told you that I got the DCWV- Retro paper pack and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! And so I have been working on my 'collection' of cards using the paper from the pack.

I also purchased some buttons and flowers recently so wanted to get in and use them to!

They are georgous. I didnt really have anything in mind when I made these cards...maybe a mothers day card and a funky birthday card?

The blue one turned out awesome I think! I was actually going to make it more feminine with ribbon and flowers and I was pulling out some buttons (for the centres) and just put them on the card to see which one would look best with the flowers and I put them down TOTALLY ACCIDENTLY in this pattern. I loved it! So I scrapped the flower idea and just glued down the buttons where they were!

Well- I know I post a lot of photos of my cards but I wanted to share with you a couple of photos of my most celebrated and MOST beautiful design!

My baby girl :) - who as it turns out is growing faster by the day and not really a baby at all any more ... she is 2years and 5months, was born 3 days before christmas of 2005 and has been the absolute light of my life ever since! She is has a strong will and incredible determination and she has a crafty side to her too (yay!-she loves making cards with mummy, even now!)

This last week due to my uncle passing away I was able to spend the week at home with her (I work full time so she normally goes to a sitter each day) and even though there was that cloud of sadness I LOVED spending the days with her. We played and talked and cooked and giggled and cried and threw some tanties (well she did!) and I have to say that I am so lucky to have such an incredibly smart and affectionate child.

So here are a couple of pics of my georgous girl- Hannah.

Aloha!

I purchased the DCWV 'Retro' pack of paper! OMG! I love it!!! Its even better than I thought.

I have so many ideas swirling around my head and just not enough time to create them! hehe!

So I was thinking that because all the papers sort of co-ordinate that I am going to make a 'collection' of cards! I'll post them as I go. Im aiming for 10 !! wish me luck!....and time :)

I used my circut for this one, I used the george cartridge for the stars and doodlecharms for the star charm. I LOVE these foam alphabet stickers! You know I got them?-At my local supermarket whilst doing the grocery shopping!! Well I never :) If thats not motivation to go grocery shoppin I dont know what is!! :)

A day of Sadness..

Well some not so good news today..

My Uncle Jimmy passed away last night after a short but painful fight against cancer. He was only 42 and the middle brother of 5 boys. My Grandma had the 5 boys in only 6 years so they are all very close in age and are all larikins with a huge sense of humor.

My father is a year older than him and they were very close. My father has also had his fair share of heath scares. My dad battled cancer when he was only 36, and it was a close call but he pulled through. Just recently he has also undergone open heart surgery and again has pulled through but only just. He is taking the death of his younger brother very hard.

I was born when my father was only 18 so as I was growing up so were my Uncles. Teenage boys reeking havoc on an innocent little girl :). I have very fond memories of spending time with all of them.

Jimmy- your kind soul and gentle nature will be missing in our lives. Our family get togethers will never be the same. Rest with Grandpa and watch over our family. We..I love you.

Is hubby having an affair?

OMG!

Look what Hubby brought for me!!

hehehe...I said that he must be having an affair because this is certainly no bunch of flowers! :):)

Arent I just the luckiest! He said that he peaked over my shoulder the other night while I was looking at a studio online and there was an storage unit like this one with baskets in each compartment. He said that he thought it looked great and that I should have one to make my space more professional! What a darling :)

So after we "discussed" the budget and where the money came from to afford such an item ;)

We spent all night putting it together (150 screws! what!!!) but it came out wonderful :)

I LOVE IT ~ I LOVE IT ~ I LOVE IT~ I LOVE IT

...Now Im looking forward to buying some baskets and lovely jars for my embelishments!

So I have added a tutorial! I dont have a video camera or webcam, they are all still shots so bare with me! (some of them might be blurry! hehe)

Puller Card Tutorial- Part One

1/Fold a piece of A5 card in half and measure up a piece of paper to fit over the front of your card. (For this tutorial I have used spare paper i hardly use -ORANGE! yuck! hehe) You can leave any size border around the edge to show the card underneath, just remember that the end of window does sit quite close to the edge of your paper so you be careful it doesnt rip!

2/ Now to cut your window! This is actually really simple so I'll try and make the instructions as simple as possible too :)

Measure in from the right hand edge of your paper 1&1/2 inches, and also 1&1/2 inches from the bottom of the paper. This will be the bottom right hand corner of your "window"
From this point measure 4 inches along to the left (this is the length of your "window") and draw a line
From the end of this line, measure up 3/4 inches and make a mark. Now join the mark with the line you have just drawn. You should have something that looks like a odd shaped "L"
From the other end of your 4 inch line repeat step C. You will now have a squarish "U" shape.
Join the two smaller edges with another 4 inch line across the top. You should now have your rectangle shape marked out!

Now using a ruler and a craft knift carefully cut around the edges of your rectangle- This will leave you, your "window". (In the photo I have placed the orange paper on the white card so the window is easy to see. Dont stick the paper to the card yet!)

3/ Now to cut your "backer" piece. Simply cut a rectangle piece measuring approx 6 inches long by 1&1/2 inches wide. This paper will be a different colour to your main piece of paper, but remember it will be the same paper as that used for the tag, so that they blend. On the back of your paper place you "backer" piece over the window, but do not stick it down. Turn your paper over and you will see the "backer" piece through the window, at this point make sure that it fits. (sorry this photo is a little blurry)

Puller Card Tutorial- Part Two

1/ Time to cut your tag! My tag usually measures 1&1/4 inches wide and 6 inches in length. (because you cut the end to shape the tag, you could add some more length to it depending on how long you want the part you pull, to be). Taper the end of your tag by cutting a corner off each side. Remember the paper you use for the tag will also be the same as the "backer" piece so that they blend.

2/ Cut your slit for the tag to slide through. (in the photo i have the backer piece behind the paper but its easier just to put it aside for the moment) To cut the slit measure approx 3/4inch from the middle of the end your "window"and make a small mark. I then line up the middle of the end of my tag to the mark and draw along the edge of the tag, going slightly past the end on either side, to get the length of the slit. Usually the length of the slit is around 1&1/2 inches.

This part is a little trial and error because if the slit is to wide then the tag sags and wont sit straight, if its too small then it wont slide in or out easily. Just test it and ammend the measurements to suit your tag :)

3/ The third photo is to show the slit/opening for the tag to go through.

4/ Slide your tag through! I run it in and out a couple of times to make sure it slides smoothly and doesnt catch. If it does catch you made need to widen the slit you've cut. If it sags, you may have cut the slit too wide (no need to start all over again- just cut a new tag to fit the opening!)

Puller Card Tutorial- Part Three

1/ Once the tag is in, turn your card over and place your "backer" piece over the opening you've cut in the paper.

2/ Stick the "backer" piece onto the paper. I normally use a tape runner to stick on my cards however for this I only use double sided tape. I use this because you need to make sure there is no "sticky" on the underside of the backer piece which may catch the tag when its pulling in or out.

3/ Turn your paper back over and test your tag to make sure it pulls in and out smoothly. You can see here the effect of having the tag the same colour as the "backer" piece.

4/ Stick you paper piece onto your pre folded card (the photos a little wonky sorry!)

Puller Card Tutorial- final

1/ Now to add your "stopper" (an embelishment of some sort) to the very end of your pull out tag. Remember it needs to be big enough to stop the tag from sliding all the way in or out. Ive used a simple flower for this tutorial.

2/ You will need to "test" your tag to see if it slides easily back and forth. I find the more intricut my stopper the less easily the tag puller. Simple is better. (You could add ribbon or another embellishment on the end of the tag for something to grab onto depending on the type of card)

3/Add the first part of your saying.

4/ Pull your tag out and add the second part of your saying.

YOU'RE DONE!

Any embelishments or other additions you are adding to your paper/card, make sure its done before you affix it all together, its much easier!

Another from my craft weekend.

I love how this one turned out! Its not my usual style to do so much doodling or freehand but i really cut loose with this and i think its turned out okay.

I used a scalloped ruler and punched the holes and handcut the pink scallops for the backround. Added the "life happens" paper and cut a heart from my crciut. Added the foam letters and the "&" sticker. I had a giant black brad i wanted to use so i used it as the middle of the flower. And i finished the outside with a flourish rub on.

I love this one!!

Okay- another card I made on my fancy craft weekend.

This one i used the cricut doodlecharm cartridge and cut a 'sun' shape. Added some hand doodling around the edges, tied some ribbon and stuck some buttons. Punched some flowers and doodled on and around them and then added rub ons for the wording.

It was actually really easy and I LOVE the way it turned out!

First up we have the HI card..I wanted to go simple and brown, i found a couple of ribbons and taped them done across the card, added some chipboard letters and doodles, a couple of rubons and vwahlah!

Hello hello,

Dan and Hannah came home today, I was soo excited to see my hubby and bubby :) All mothers would appreciate this- there are times when you wish for the pre-children silence but as so as it is silent something is missing. Thats how I've felt this weekend, Ive enjoyed my time alone but I have been lonely! So they are back- Hannah looks like she has grown a 5 cm and has about 20 new words (all in 3 days!) I've missed her sooo much I cant put it into words. And my Dear Dan, always looking out for my addiction to card making..hehehe...Look what he bought me! TWO PAPER RACKS!! I have (until now) kept my paper just in a pile on a shelf, the edges were starting to curl and ruin. But now I have these beautiful rack to put my paper in! THANK YOU HONEY!!

...still waiting to take pics of the cards I made over the weekend, spent all my time tonight putting the paper in racks...

Oh- and a quick shout out to the lovely ladies Enfys and Michelle for your words or encouragement :) Thank you ladies, you (and of course the paper racks!) made my day :)

Hello all,

What an amazing day I have had! I have spent the entire day card making, something that I dont usually get to do! I have a made a few cards..i'll have to post them later cos dan has the camera with him. I will post some of my other cards i have already got photos of. On a completely different note, i am SOOOO excited about the contest I have entered at Bcr8iv's (aka michelle) and even if i dont win, i've gained so much courage. I'll be entering contests left right and center now- you just watch me!

So anyway, I'll add a couple of cards that i have in my stash..

Old Friends Around Forever..

Hiya all!

..Dan & Hannah are away on a father/daughter weekend so Im home on my own..So I decided to have a friend over for coffee tonight. I have been friends with Krissy for around 20 years! We went to primrary school together and have been friends all through to highschool, and for years since. We dont often to get spend too much time together as we are both busy but when it do its like old times! Love ya Krissy -thanks for always being there for me! So it's midnight and I dont feel like going to bed yet (I get to sleep in, in the morning so I figure why not stay up!! hehehe)

Long Time no blog!

Hello all,

So you'll be proud of me (i certainly am!). I entered in a competition over at http://bcr8iv.blogspot.com/ !! I made my 'truck load of love' card for my husband for valentines day..(you can see the pick on my first post) I made it for another competition but i never actually got the guts to submit it! So when i came across the competition over at Bcr8iv I took the plunge! I have been card making for like 10 years now and I have come to a point in my life where I want to take it further. So I am going to start entering in more and more competitions, and I'm even looking into becoming a TLC Consultant and starting up classes!! Im nervous as hell but I am also sooo excited. I will keep you all updated on my progress...fingers crossed for me!
*sigh* okay...im off to ACTUALLY make some cards instead of talking about it! hehehe..

I work as a customer servicer officer for a big electricial store and i confirm the deliveries for each day and wow what a busy week i have had! We are changing delivery companies so have to go through ALL of the rigmarol and they start tomorrow and they are no where near ready. I dread going to work on Monday to fix/deal with all the problems! I have DESPERATELY needed to take some ZEN time..so ive made some cards. Sorry about the photos but im so tired lately that i didnt even notice when i took them! enjoy- i certainly enjoyed making them!

These are another set of cards that I have been inspired to do. Kristina, http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/ is an amazingly talented stampin up demonstrator and even though I havent done much stamping I use alot of her cards for inspiration. I normally just substitute the stamp for a crciut diecut! :)

These three cards were inspired by one she made. I used two (strip) border stickers, a large strip of paper, ribbon and embellishments. Hope you Like.

My Grandma is AMAZING

My Grandma (the whole family calls her Narny) has ALWAYS been my mentor when it comes to the craft. She taught me to cross stich and paint and is the one person in my family who truly knows what my creations are all about. She is the kindest soul and spends most of her time raising three of her seventeen grandkids, as her daughter is mentally ill. About 8 weeks ago she went to her doctor for her local checkup and abnormalities were found on her liver. After further investigation it was found that she has numerous tumors over her liver and they have extended to her lungs. She was given 2-3 months to live.

I still dont think that it has sunk in with me yet. (Im dealing with another termially ill family member on the other side of the family!- so its all still very unreal at this point) So I wanted to share with you one of her paintings that she created for me. She is amazing and it brings me to tears to think that someday soon that her talent will leave this world forever. I hope that my creativeness will be passed onto my children and that I can continue the craft within the family.

My ribbon was building up and becoming a bit of a mess. I'd looked everywhere (even ebay) to find something to hold my ribbon, found nothing. Dan even went on a hunt to a couple of craft stores for me to try and find something, again no luck. So I come home one afternoon and look what he made!!! what a darling! LOVE IT~ LOVE IT ~LOVE IT! Thanks Honey!

This one was inspired by Bety over at http://iralamija.blogspot.com/. She is amazing and I get alot of ideas from her. This one is actually a combination of two of her cards that I love. I cut the heart from doodlecharms (DC) cart on the cricut at 5", the lettering is alpha stickers, a little chipboad heart for accent. The diamonties around the scallops were actually a flower middle and I picked each of the diamonties off and glued them onto this card (next time I think I will just buy adhesive diamonties! hehe) The flowers are simple punches with a touch of glitter. One of my faves.

As you can imagine I have been making cards for a while now..so i have quite a few to post. Im going to try a couple of photos in the one post. Cross fingers and Toes and wish me luck! weehee! It worked :)

So I got my new PaperDoll Cartridge for the cricut and had an idea to make a 'collection' of cards. I wanted them to have the same formula for each card but each with a different theme using everyone of the characters from the cart.

Here is my first three. The formula is a two base colours and patterned paper.A strip across the middle (same colour as the base card) and a character from PD and a 'background' die cut. A ribbon accross the front and a tag with a greeting along with a couple of brads. I like all of them. I cant wait to do more!

This is a card I made for my partner for Valentines day. I had seen some 'shaped' cards and wanted to try one so I decided on the truck. I cut two squares and attached them to the back of the wheels so that it would stand up and it worked really well actually! Im really proud of this one! And Dan loved it too. I cut the truck shape with my provocraft cricut machine (cricut-as its so fondly known) and I used the cuttlebug for the embossing on the 'load'. Enjoy.

Hello everyone and welcome to my first post :)

I have been looking for a while now at so many of the lovely blogs around which showcase the artistic abilities of some very creative women and I wanting to get in on the act :)

I have been 'crafty' for as long as I can remember and when I was in highschool I dabbled a little in making cards for family and friends but it wasnt until I met my partner and had our daughter Hannah that I started to spend more time...and money (!) on making my cards. I have found a couple of really good blogs and spend a lot of time on the cricut cards message boards to get some amazing inspiration.

I would love to find a career in cardmaking or design and have though about becoming a demonstrator but dont quite have the courage yet! And Im mostly into cricut and papercraft rather than stamping. Although I'm getting an ich to expand :) OH OH!

So I hope you enjoy all my ramblings and photos and feel free to ask me anything- ill do my best to answer!
